A Responsibility Rooted in Büyükada

Set within one of Istanbul’s most singular landscapes, Princes’ Palace Resort understands sustainability not as an initiative, but as a long-term commitment to the place that sustains us. Our role extends beyond hospitality. It is to protect the island environment, preserve cultural identity, support our community and act with a view toward lasting value.

Stewardship of the Land & Environment

Water

We adopt water conservation practices designed to protect resources and reduce unnecessary consumption. This includes optimising water use, preventing leaks and implementing water-saving technologies across the resort. This is supported by monitored consumption and the use of efficient irrigation systems across landscaped areas.

Waste

We work to minimise waste generation and strengthen recycling processes through regular review of our waste systems. Materials are handled with greater care across operations, with the aim of reducing environmental harm and improving long-term efficiency. This includes targeted recycling initiatives such as capsule collection and separation systems implemented across the property.

Energy

Energy efficiency is an ongoing operational priority. We are committed to reducing energy consumption, improving efficiency across the resort and increasing the use of renewable energy sources over time. Consumption is monitored and aligned with recognised energy management standards.

Products & Services

From operational supplies to guest-facing choices, we prioritise environmentally friendly products and encourage practices that support sustainability throughout the resort and across our supplier relationships.

Nature Protection

We are committed to preserving the natural areas surrounding the hotel and supporting a model of tourism that respects the local ecosystem. The island setting is not simply our backdrop. It is part of what we are here to protect. This includes a reduced-impact approach to landscaping, chemical use and outdoor lighting.

Culture, Heritage & Community

Büyükada carries a distinct cultural memory, shaped through architecture, craftsmanship, local traditions and the layered history of island life. Preserving culture is not an ornamental gesture. It is part of sustaining identity and ensuring that hospitality remains connected to place. Our approach centres on celebrating regional flavours and local products. We work closely with island suppliers, including fishermen and small producers, reinforcing a short supply chain rooted in the island itself.

Architectural Preservation

With roots dating back to the 19th century, the estate has been carefully restored with close attention to its original character. The reconstruction of the Akdağ Grand Mansion was carried out using traditional materials and techniques, ensuring continuity with the architectural language of the island. At the same time, we remain committed to preserving and presenting the cultural and historical significance of Büyükada with care, ensuring that the island is introduced, interpreted and respected in a way that remains true to its character.

Responsible Hospitality

The experience of Princes’ Palace Resort is shaped by the people who bring it to life each day. Responsible hospitality begins with fairness, development and respect, not only for guests, but for the teams and communities that help us to sustain our resort. We uphold equal opportunity and invest in training and professional growth. This sense of responsibility extends beyond the property itself. Through engagement with local initiatives and a close awareness of community needs, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the island.

Guest experience also remains central to this approach. We continually refine our service through observation, feedback and ongoing evaluation, ensuring that standards evolve with care and consistency. Our wider commitments are grounded in respect for human rights, privacy and ethical practices across both operations and partnerships. These principles guide how we work, how we collaborate and how we build trust.

Governance, Accountability
and Continuous Improvement

Our approach is guided by long-term thinking, transparent management and responsible investment, with a focus on operational efficiency and support for the local economy. Quality follows the same principle. Processes are regularly reviewed; teams are supported and both operations and guest experience evolve with care. Key resource consumption is monitored and reviewed regularly, forming part of a structured sustainability framework across departments. Together, these principles shape our approach and action.

A Future Shaped by More Conscious Travel

We believe that hospitality, when guided by care and intention, can deepen a guest’s relationship to place while helping protect what makes that place meaningful. Each step in our sustainability journey is part of a broader responsibility to the future. To preserve the island. To respect its heritage. And to ensure that every stay contributes, in some measure, to something lasting.
