A LIVING LEGACY

The Akdağ Grand Mansion

Where History
Still Lives

Büyükada is home to one of the largest surviving collections of late Ottoman wooden mansions, places where generations gathered and where leisure was lived as both hospitality and an art. The Akdağ Grand Mansion continues this story.

A Belle Époque icon,
at the heart
of it all

Spanning 2,500 m², the Akdağ Grand Mansion anchors the resort, its gilded ceilings, crafted balustrades and marble inlays recalling Büyükada’s golden era.

Where It All Began

Built in 1872, designed by Perikles Fotiadis and constructed by Yorgo Simota, the mansion has long held its place among Büyükada’s most notable residences. A defining landmark of Ottoman island life, it would later be formally recognised as a first-degree monument.

Beautifully Revisited

After years of silence, the mansion was rebuilt over eight years by the Akdağ family, with an international team of architects, interior designers and landscape artists. Reimagined through traditional craftsmanship, every element was reworked with precision, from carved timber façades to intricate woodwork and marble.

The Art of Leisure

Elsewhere, the mansion opens into a series of spaces devoted to leisure. A cigar lounge, a billiard salon, a wine cellar of Anatolian and international vintages and a perfume lounge where scents from East and West meet.
